Following directives from Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, special training has been imparted to Sarpanches, Nambardars and Municipal Councillors for the online verification of citizen applications under e-services.
Giving details in this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Gupta said that Sarpanches, Nambardars and Councillors will now verify citizen applications through the online system, which will further streamline the process and enable seamless service delivery. The Punjab Government has initiated this step to minimise the hassle faced by citizens in getting such applications verified.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner explained that routine applications like Residence Certificate, Caste (SC, BC/OBC) Certificates, Income Certificate, EWS Certificate and Old Age Pension Certificate will now be verified online. He said Sarpanches and Nambardars will certify documents in rural areas, while Councillors will verify those in urban areas.
Under this new process, Patwaris will forward online applications to the respective Sarpanch, Nambardar, or Councillor for verification. These officials will then be able to verify the applications of individuals from their village or ward using the e-Seva Portal or WhatsApp Chatbot No: 9855501076.
He said this digital verification process will not only save the time of public representatives but also help citizens get their work done in minimal time. With online certificate verification, people will be able to receive their documents while sitting at home.
