Members of the alumni association at SCD Government College here on Thursday mourned the demise of Prem Chand Kathpalia, a 1954-batch Punjab-cadre IAS officer, who retired as the Secretary to the Union Government.

“We recall that he did his post-graduation in English here in the 1950s. Kathpalia remained the editor of our prestigious college magazine, ‘The Sutlej,’ and was a popular, versatile lawn tennis and cricket player, besides being the students’ union president during his time at the college,” the alumni association recalled.

Those present on the occasion included Prof Rashmi Verma, Shivdular Singh Dhillon, MP Arora, Prof IP Setia, Prof PK Sharma etc.
