Ludhiana: Sehaj Arora, a student of Class X, from DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, has distinguished herself by securing the first rank in the KAMP-NASTA (Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform – National Assessment for Scientific Temperament and Aptitude) 2023-24. She has been honoured with the Gold State Award, a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and a ‘Certificate of State Excellence’. KAMP-NASTA is an initiative of the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology and is implemented in partnership with M/S Nysa Communications Pvt Ltd. The initiative is open to students from classes V to XII and aims to identify and nurture hidden talents and skills. KAMP-NASTA is a platform designed to evaluate 21st-century skills and awareness among the students. The assessment encompasses scientific temperament, ethical reasoning, socio-economic learning, quantitative and logical reasoning, computational thinking, knowledge of humanities and digital literacy.
Bhartiya vidya mandir
Budding innovators Goransh Mittal of Class XI and Vinayak Grover of Class IX of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Udham Singh Nagar, brought laurels to the school by achieving success in the district-level science exhibition held at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College recently. A total of 68 models were exhibited, and eight models were selected for the state level, including ‘Pre-alarming Tremor Detector and Life Savior’. Another exhibit, ‘Smart Shed Greenery Enhanced Moisture Control’ prepared by Vinayak Grover also won special appreciation of the visitors.

Principal Dr Davinder Singh Chhina was felicitated with a certificate of appreciation by MLA Manvinder Singh Gyaspura, DEO (Secondary) Harjinder Singh, school management committee and faculty at his superannuation event organised at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Shahpur. He was given a warm send off after a service for more than three decades. Dr Chhina started the ‘Special Scholarship Scheme’ of Rs 6,600 per session for Shahpur school toppers who excel in the Board exams. On the occasion, Dr Chhina donated 21,000 rupees towards the school welfare fund for laying of floors of the staffroom.
