Scrutiny of papers for Feb 28 DBA poll over, 35 in fray
The scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming annual elections of Punjab’s largest District Bar Association, scheduled for February 28, has been completed. Following this, Returning Officer Lokesh Batta has officially released the list of candidates.
He stated that after the completion of the nomination process, all submitted papers were thoroughly examined and the nominations of all candidates were found to be valid. With this, a total of 35 candidates are now in the electoral fray.
For the president’s post, Vipin Saggar, TPS Dhaliwal, Harvinder Singh, Harinder Singh Narang, Sanjeev Malhotra and Gurpreet Singh Arora are among the six candidates contesting the elections.
For the vice-president’s post, there are six contenders: Sukhwinder Singh Bhatia, Anil Saggar, Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Charanjit Singh Channa, Gursimar Singh Alag and Rakesh Kumar Gupta.
For the secretary’s post, Himanshu Walia, Harsh Sharma, Rajinder Singh Bhandari and Hariom Jindal are in the race.
The joint secretary’s post will witness a three-way contest between Rachna Soni, Rahul Sharma and Rimaljeet Singh Rampal.
The finance secretary’s post will also see a triangular competition between Mayank Chopra, Amit Gupta and Ved Bhushan Sharma.
For the six-member executive committee, Harjeet Singh Bhatti, Harjeet Kaur, Jasbir Singh, Karan Tiwari, Lalita Pakhral, Munish Kumar, Nisha Bhatti, Piyush Chawla, Ramandeep Singh, Samar Sharma, Sandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh Bajwa, and Sunita have filed their nominations, making it a 13 candidate contest.
Returning Officer Lokesh Batta stated that campaigning for the elections will now gain momentum, with candidates intensifying their strategies to win over the members.
