As part of the ongoing crackdown against antisocial elements, including drug peddlers and snatchers, the police carried out an extensive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at railway stations in the Ludhiana and Malerkotla districts.

The operation focused on key railway stations, railway tracks, rail bridges and abandoned buildings near the Ludhiana-Dhuri railway line. The four-hour operation was supervised by DSP (Special) Ranjit Singh Bains, DSP Ahmedgarh Rajan Sharma, DSP Amargarh Davinder Singh Sandhu, and ACP Harjinder Singh Gill. SHO City Randip Sharma, SHO Sadar Sukhwinder Singh, and SHO Amargarh Gurpreet Kaur led the operation in their respective areas.

Malerkotla SSP Gagan Ajit Singh informed that the CASO was part of a specialised intelligence-based crackdown aimed at identifying and apprehending criminals and antisocial elements under the ongoing Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign.

“The operation targeted the railway stations at Ahmedgarh, Rohira and Jitwal, as well as the railway tracks and surrounding premises, to rule out any presence of antisocial elements posing as passengers,” said Gagan Ajit Singh. He added that suspicious individuals were thoroughly frisked and checks for criminal records were conducted.

While no objectionable items were recovered during the operation, DSP Bains, DSP Sandhu, DSP Sharma and DSP Gill noted that they had gathered information on the whereabouts of individuals who were loitering at the stations under the pretext of waiting for late trains.
