In a proactive move to address infrastructure concerns, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar today conducted a detailed inspection of the Zone A Municipal Corporation (MC) office, where he found widespread leakages across multiple rooms. The seepage, caused by persistent rainfall, has begun to damage official records and files, prompting immediate concern from staff and officials.

During his visit, Prashar personally inspected each room, while interacting with employees and reviewing the extent of damage caused by water. Several files were found soaked, and ceiling leaks were reported in key administrative sections. “This is unacceptable,” he said. “Our records are the backbone of the civic functioning. We cannot allow rainwater to compromise them,” he said.

He assured staff that repair work would begin within a week or as soon as the rain subsides. “All rooms and offices in the Zone A will be repaired. We’ll ensure proper waterproofing and structural fixes —not just patchwork,” Prashar said.

The inspection comes amid growing complaints from municipal employees who have been struggling to protect documents and maintain daily operations under leaking roofs and damp conditions. Some departments have resorted to using plastic sheets and buckets to contain the damage.

Prashar emphasised that the issue would be treated on priority basis. “We are not waiting for files to rot. The engineering wing has been instructed to prepare estimates and begin work immediately after the rains,” he added.
