Sept 30 last day to avail 10 per cent rebate on property tax
With September 30 last day to avail 10 per cent rebate on payment of property tax for the current financial year (2025-26), the Municipal Corporation (MC) has appealed to residents to submit the same in time and avail the rebate.
As per officials, over 1 lakh property owners in the city are yet to pay property tax for the current financial year and they would not be able to avail the rebate after September 30.
The officials said residents could avail a 10 per cent rebate on payment of property tax for the current financial year, if the payment is done by September 30. No penalty is imposed on payment of tax from October 1 to December 31 while the department imposes a 10 per cent penalty on payment of tax from January 1 to March 31. The penalty is increased to 20 per cent and 18 per cent annual interest is also imposed, if the residents fail to pay the tax for the current financial year by March 31.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said to avoid standing in long queues, the residents could also submit pending dues online by visiting the website of the civic body mcludhiana.gov.in.
The Mayor and the MC chief have appealed to the residents to submit the tax in time and avail a 10 per cent rebate on the same.
Suvidha kendras to remain open on weekends
For facilitating residents to submit their pending tax by September 30, the civic body has decided to keep its zonal suvidha kendras open on weekends too.
Besides working days, the kendras remained open on September 20 (Saturday) and will remain open on September 22 (Monday), which is a government holiday, September 27 (Saturday) and September 28 (Sunday) too during the working hours.
