The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ludhiana, today launched a tree plantation drive under the supervision of its Chairperson-cum-Sessions Judge Harpreet Kaur Randhawa at the District Courts Complex, Ludhiana, on the occasion of World Environment Day.
On this occasion, Additional District & Sessions Judge Saru Mehta Kaushik, Additional District Judge (ADJ) Sandeep Singh Bajwa, ADJ Jaspinder Singh, Civil Judge (Senior Division) Dazy Bangarh, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA Ludhiana, Sumit Sabharwal, District Forest Officer Rajesh Gulati, Range Officer Kamalpreet Singh, along with DBA office bearers, were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sessions Judge informed that as part of this drive, approximately 15,000 saplings will be planted from June 5 to July 5 across the District Courts, Ludhiana, the Administrative Complex, all Sub-Divisions (Jagraon, Payal, Samrala, Khanna), Central Jail, Women Jail, Borstal Jail Ludhiana and in various villages and schools, with the cooperation of the Forest Department, Ludhiana.
She further announced that on the concluding day of the campaign, a special project titled “One Judge - One Tree” will be conducted, under which each judicial officer will be given a sapling along with the responsibility for its care and maintenance.
Additionally, a stall was set up by the Forest Department at the ADR Centre building, where saplings were distributed to advocates, litigants and visitors. Participants were informed about the benefits of tree plantation and encouraged to plant more trees. Awareness material regarding the Free Legal Aid Scheme, the benefits of National Lok Adalats and the toll-free helpline number 15100 was also distributed.
