Set up Ayurveda institute in city: MP to minister
Ludhiana, August 7
Rajya Sabha MP from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora met the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Jadhav Prataprao Ganpatrao, on Tuesday and demanded the establishment of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Ludhiana.
Arora apprised the minister that Punjab has a rich cultural heritage and a deep-rooted tradition of Ayurveda. The state has witnessed significant growth in the healthcare sector, with Ludhiana emerging as a prominent medical hub. The presence of renowned institutions such as Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and Christian Medical College (CMC) being among the oldest in the country, underscores the city’s potential to become a centre of excellence in the field of Ayurveda.
He assured Ganpatrao of providing all necessary permissions and a suitable land from the state government for the establishment of the AllA in Ludhiana.
He suggested that the proposed institute should be modelled on the lines of the existing institutes in Delhi and Goa, encompassing a comprehensive structure that includes a hospital, academic programmes, research facilities, publications and environment enrichment activities.
The MP said he hoped that the establishment of the institute would not only benefit the people of the state but also significantly contribute to the growth and development of Ayurveda in the country, adding that on Wednesday, the minister had assured to look into the demand. The minister also asked him to push for private colleges-cum-hospitals under Ayurveda, promising full support from the Central Government. — TNS
