On the 86th death anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh, former chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board and former District Congress Committee president Pawan Dewan paid floral tributes to the martyr.

He said Shaheed Udham Singh was one of the valiant sons of Bharat Mata who etched his name in history by avenging the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and bringing pride to the nation. “His supreme sacrifice is not only a chapter in the nation’s freedom struggle – but a beacon of courage and conviction that will continue to inspire generations to come,” he said.

Dewan said by travelling to London and ‘neutralising’ Michael O’Dwyer, the man responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, Udham Singh proved that the atrocities committed on Indian soil would not go unpunished.

Dewan appealed to the youth of the state and the nation to follow the path shown by martyrs and actively contributing to nation-building.
