Dr Faqir Chand Shukla, a renowned scientist and a prolific litterateur, was honoured by the Languages Department, Punjab, with the ‘Best Book of Children Literature Award’ for his anthology of short stories “Safalta Kadam Choomegi”. The award was presented to him in Patiala by Er Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director, Languages Department, Punjab.

Shukla, a retired professor of food technology from the Punjab Agricultural University, often inculcates scientific temper among the readers through his writings, especially the children.

Shukla has authored 70 books on a wide variety of subjects, including short stories, plays, children literature, plays and health. His works have been translated into many languages like Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Bangla, Malayalam, Sindhi, Kannada, Rajasthani, Urdu, English, etc.

Recently, he was also honoured by Dr Gurdev Singh Khush Foundation with an award for his outstanding contributions for making science popular.
