SKM to burn effigies of Modi, Trump
In a strongly worded statement, farmer leaders from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) condemned government’s policies, alleging that these were detrimental to the agricultural and dairy sector. The leaders announced plans for protests, including burning effigies of US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to be held on April 4 at tehsil and block levels.
A seminar is also scheduled for May 4, aimed at educating farmers about the impact of the Trump policy on their market. Farmer leaders claimed that the Central Government, in collaboration with the US, had created policies that would harm the market. Modi had already agreed to decrease tax of goods, including dairy products and other eatables coming from the US, and it would cause huge losses to farmers and dairy farmers.
They said farmers would not let the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre to take decisions that would harm agricultural sector.
Meanwhile, farmers also condemned the Aam Aadmi Party for forcible eviction of farmers from the Shambu and Khanauri borders. They alleged tractor-trailers and other goods of farmers had been stolen during the police action and the police had failed to ensure recovery of such things.
