Smuggler nabbed,10 gm heroin, pistol recovered

The Model Town police today claimed to have arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 10 gram of heroin and a country made .32 bore pistol from him. The police also recovered Rs 55,000 drug money and an Activa scooter (bearing registration number PB10HQ3996) from the suspect. The arrested suspect has been identified as Aniket Talwara, alias Jerry (24), a resident of Dr Ambedkar Nagar.
In a statement, Shubham Aggarwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Ludhiana, said the police had got secret information that Talwara was into heroin smuggling and was on way to deliver drug to his clients. A police party after verifying the suspect’s location conducted a raid and arrested him.
The ADCP said the suspect had a criminal past and two cases of drug smuggling and Arms Act were already registered against him in Ludhiana. After coming out on bail, the suspect continued the illegal trade, he said. The suspect might be using illegal weapon to loot or intimidate people, the ADCP said. Further investigation was in progress to find if the suspect had committed any crime, the ADCP added.
