A gas agency employee was robbed of cash and a mobile phone by three robbers in Dugri area on April 28. The police registered a case in this regard yesterday.
The incident took place when Surinder Kumar, an employee of the Indian Gas Agency, was heading to the warehouse after delivering cylinders in Sarabha Nagar, BRS Nagar, and Dugri areas. As Surinder Kumar reached Kartar Chowk around 1.30 pm, a youth signalled him to stop, pretending to be a customer. When Surinder stopped his three-wheeler, the youth started arguing with him, while another one emerged from the other side. He opened the door and attacked Surinder with a dagger. The attackers then snatched Rs 25,000 and a mobile phone from Surinder’s pocket.
The police registered a case against three unknown miscreants based on Surinder’s complaint. He stated that he had been delivering cylinders for the past two years and was carrying the cash he had collected from customers of the day. The thieves fled on a motorcycle, and despite some people being present in the area, no one dared to intervene.
The Dugri police station has launched a probe and is scanning CCTV footage to track the accused.
