Social issues take centre stage during theatre events at vet varsity’s youth fest

The ongoing Youth Festival at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, today featured a presentation of pressing social issues expressed through theatrical performances. These were spread over competitions of mime and skit, bringing to life a wide variety of contemporary socio-political and environmental concerns.

Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU, graced the occasion as the guest of honour in the morning session.

Dr JPS Gill, Vice-Chancellor, said, “The theatre events at our Youth Festival reflect the creativity and social awareness of our students. Their performances portrayed contemporary issues with maturity and depth. Such platforms build confidence, sensitivity and leadership among youth. I am proud of their talent and congratulate all participants for their remarkable efforts.”

Dr Rabinder Singh Aulakh , Director Students’ Welfare, praised the students for their professionalism and impactful performances, noting that the presentations served as a “true mirror of life and society”. He expressed confidence that the young artists would continue to excel not only in inter-university events but also in life’s broader challenges.

Dr Gursharn Jit Singh Sandhu, Principal, SCD Govt College for Boys, Ludhiana, was last evening’s guest of honour. He visited the stalls of value-added products, displayed by the various colleges of the university.

Students from multiple constituent and affiliated colleges — College of Veterinary Science; College of Dairy and Food Science Technology; College of Fisheries; College of Animal Biotechnology; Veterinary Science College, Rampura Phul; Veterinary Polytechnic, Kaljharani; and Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar — participated enthusiastically.
