The stage is set for the 68th National School Games slated to be held here from December 11 to 17 during which competition in four sports disciplines will be held for boys and girls at three venues.
Addressing a press conference on Monday at Government Senior Secondary Smart School on the Punjab Agricultural University campus, Dimple Madaan, District Education Officer (Secondary) said all the arrangement had been completed to organise the games smoothly.
“During the week-long event, around 3,500 players and officials from as many as 25 states, 3 Union Territories and 9 organisations would be visiting Ludhiana to take part in games- handball (boys and girls U-19), netball (boys and girls U-17), judo (boys and girls U-19) and karate (boys and girls U-14),” said DEO.
Matches in handball and netball will be held at Government Senior Secondary Smart School ground, PAU while competition in judo will be conducted at the multipurpose indoor hall, near Guru Nanak Stadium and BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Sharsti Nagar will be the venue for karate.
All the arrangements for boarding/lodging, transportation and three-time meals for the athletes and officials have been made, she added. Officials of education department were present during the conference.
Prior to the press conference, a meeting of the organizing committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner to review the arrangements made for the mega sports event.
The inauguration ceremony will be held at Guru Nanak Stadium on December 11 at 11.30 am.
