Students pledge to support campaign against drug abuse, social evils

Students of various educational institutes in the region vowed to make their parents and teachers proud by standing true to their expectations. They announced support to the campaign launched by the administration against social evils, including drug abuse, violence and eve teasing.

An oath was taken during the concluding sessions of seminars and events held at various educational institutes. Malerkotla SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said the police had launched a special campaign to sensitise students on the ill-effects of social evils.

“Having observed that youths fall prey to sinister designs of antisocial elements during teenage we have advised DSPs to sensitise them,” said the SSP, appreciating that several students had volunteered to provide information about illegal activities taking place in their respective regions.

SP Rajwinder Singh Randhawa urged students at MGMN Senior Secondary School to adopt discipline as in their lifestyle. Randhawa called urged teachers and residents to adopt an affable attitude with their wards and counsel them on important issues. Speakers said creating awareness among students was as important as undertaking measures to prevent inflow of contraband.
