Students vow to shun Chinese string
The local administration claimed to have roped in social, educational and religious organisations to spread awareness about the consequences of violating the ban on the use, stock, sale and transportation of Chinese string, which has emerged as a menace in the region.
Youths, including students and activists of social organisations, have joined hands with crusaders supporting the campaign and vowed to shun the use of the fatal string.
Ahmedgarh SDM Gurmit Bansal said office-bearers and activists of various social and educational organisations had come forward to oppose the use of Chinese string.
Besides organising workshops and seminars, the administration has conducted a series of activities, including poster-making, declamation contests, and debates.
Guru Harkrishan Public School, Phallewal; Victoria Public Senior Secondary School, Lehra; Wisdom World Public School; and Government Senior Secondary School, Chaminda, were among the institutes where students took an oath to shun the Chinese string.

Lohri, Vasant Panchmi, and Republic Day are among the scheduled days when the largest number of residents would be flying kites, using the banned string.
