Sharing his journey with The Tribune, an elated Narinder Singh said, “I began my career at a private school in 2002 and later joined GPS, Jandiali. The environment was entirely different at Jandiali, but the school students inspired me. We worked together on discipline, manners and etiquettes, and there was no looking back.”

Recalling one of his initiatives, Singh said he had introduced the Red Cross concept at the primary level when then Director, Punjab Red Cross, C.S. Talwar, visited the school. “We arranged a bed, equipment and a first-aid kit. The students demonstrated exemplary skills in providing assistance during emergencies. Today, our three-room school has grown into 15 rooms with 800 students,” he added.

Singh highlighted several initiatives, including a cemented dining hall for mid-day meals, hands-on learning methods, and infrastructure improvements supported by the panchayat and state government. The school now has 15 smart classrooms, three libraries, including a mobile library, and three specialised parks – Sundar Likhai Park, Math Park and IT Park.

Singh was honoured with a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs 50,000 and a silver medal.
