Teachers’ union meets Cabinet panel
Members of the Punjab Meritorious Teachers’ Union, including representatives from Ludhiana, met the Cabinet sub-committee at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, on Thursday. During the meeting, union state president Dr Tina informed Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal about the recent impressive results of 131 students in the JEE exam. Highlighting the hard work of teachers and the outstanding achievements of their students, she stressed that their services should be regularised in the Education Department.
Cheema assured the teachers their services would soon be regularised. General secretary Dr Ajay Sharma raised the demand for the release of pending arrears and annual increments. The ministers said work in this regard was underway. Dr Tina warned of strict consequences if their demands were not met.
