Tech education officials explore courses on drone training for ITIs
A delegation of the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Punjab, led by Vijayinder Dhawan (Joint Director) and Parvinder Singh (Assistant Director), along with Mayuri Parui, Punjab Good Governance Fellow, and principals from various Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of Jagraon, Moga and Ludhiana visited the Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) centre at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana.
The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into the functioning of the RPTO and explore the establishment of drone training, repair and maintenance courses in Punjab’s ITIs. Dhawan emphasised that ITI instructors would soon undergo drone pilot training at the PAU, ensuring the upskilling of faculty members and the introduction of cutting-edge drone technology into the ITI curriculum.
MK Narang, head of the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering (FMPE), emphasised PAU’s pioneering research in agricultural drone applications, which has been going on for the past six years.
The delegation was given a tour of the RPTO labs, a demonstration of the drone simulator and a live drone flying session led by Santosh Kumar and Tarandeep Singh, scientists (FMPE).
