Thousands to appear for PARAKH exam at 121 centres in dist on Dec 4
The Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH) exam, formerly known as the National Achievement Survey (NAS), will be held all over the country on December 4.
Parakh Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 is a national-level large-scale assessment to evaluate and track the performance of India’s school education system over time.
In Ludhiana district, a total of 121 government and private schools will be centres where this exam will be conducted for thousands of students from Class 3, Class 6 and Class 9, respectively.
Coordinator of the exam for CBSE schools in the district, Principal DP Guleria said the exam will be held under the supervision of both the observers and field investigators. The observers will be from the CBSE while the investigators and field observers will be from the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
The exam, to assess the performance of students, will be held on December 4 in which 30 students each from every school and Class 3, Class 6 and Class 9 will have to appear. Principal Guleria added that the aim behind conducting the exam at the national level is to find out if there is any further need of improvement in the education system and where do the students stand in the performance chart. “It is a kind of survey and not any competition. The government has not intimated anything, if there will be positions declared of the schools or the students who perform extraordinarily well,” added Guleria.
District Education Officer (Elementary) Ravinder Kaur said that everything was arranged for conducting the exam and daily meetings were held by the Education Department to provide the required instructions.
It may be mentioned here that PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 is managed by the National Assessment Centre.
