Garment and woollen manufacturers in Ludhiana are eagerly awaiting the start of three different exhibitions in the city over the next three days, with the hope of receiving large orders from buyers from across the country.

The Ludhiana Readymade Garment Manufacturers Association (LRGMA) expects a large turnout of buyers as its three-day exhibition begins tomorrow at PAU. A woollen garments exhibition will also open at Radisson Blu, followed by another one at the Hyatt the next day.

Manufacturers are going to great lengths to entice buyers and secure the most orders for the upcoming season.

The three-day exhibition at PAU will feature Ludhiana manufacturers showcasing the latest trends in autumn/winter readymade garments.

Sanju Dhir, a garment manufacturer and association member, told The Tribune that the exhibition would cater to all categories, including men’s, women’s, and kids’ wear.

“There will be 65-70 exhibitors for men’s wear. Around 50 exhibitors will showcase their boys’, girls’ and women’s wear products. Over 50 manufacturers will also be displaying their kids’ wear products keeping in mind the high demand,” said Dhir.

Darshan Dawar of the Ludhiana Woollen Manufacturers’ Association, however, said that an exhibition was held in July where only 10 per cent of the buyers placed orders.

“Now, at these three exhibitions, the majority of buyers will visit the city and place orders. They will also visit the factories. We are constantly in touch with buyers from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana who plan to visit our units. This provides us with pulse of buyers, and we begin productions based on the orders we receive at these exhibitions,” said Dawar, adding that the manufacturers hoped to attract foreign buyers beginning next season.
