A case against them was registered at the Shimplapuri police station, Ludhiana, on August 10, 2016, on the statement of Mandeep Singh. The owner of the two shops used to run a lottery stall. Some drug addicts used to sit in the shops. A few days ago some drug addicts were making noise and abusing each other. Mandeep and his younger brother Lakhwinder Singh asked them not to use abusive language as their residence was located near the shop. Following which, the accused threatened them and fled the scene.

On August 10, 2016, the complainant, his brothers Lakhwinder Singh and Surinderpal and their mother Jasbir Kaur were present at the house. When they were going to sleep about 11.30 pm, the accused knocked the gate of the house of the complainant. Lakhwinder opened the gate and around four persons armed with kirpan, datar and rods attacked Lakhwinder. The accused caused injuries on his head. On hearing the noise, Mandeep and his brother Surinderpal went to save their brother.

They entered forcibly in the house of the complainant along with their weapons and attacked Lakhwinder and Surinderpal. The seriously injured victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. Though the accused claimed false implication in the case, after appreciating evidence on record, the court found them guilty.
