DCP Aggarwal said on Friday secret information was received that the accused persons were carrying a huge stock of the banned plastic string, and accordingly, a police party laid a trap and intercepted the canter. During the search, the police party recovered 70 cases (3,360) rolls of the string. Three accused were immediately arrested, and a case was registered against them.

ADCP Brar said whosoever sells or buys this deadly drug will face strict action. Notably, the sale of the plastic string picks up ahead of Lohri as kite lovers buy huge stocks illegally. Since the sale of this string is banned, some suppliers and shopkeepers sell it illegally at exorbitant prices, ranging between Rs 400 to 500 per roll.
