The Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a gang of snatchers and thieves and arrested three of its members. The police also recovered 16 snatched mobile phones, three motorcycles and one sharp weapon from them.
ADCP-1 Sameer Verma, ACP North Kikkar Singh, Salem Tabri SHO inspector Harshveer Singh and ASI Sukhjinder Singh conducted a press conference in this regard.
All suspects belong to Ladhowal in Ludhiana.
The ADCP said on October 3, a snatching case was registered on the complaint of Parminder Singh, a resident of Varinder Nagar. During the investigation of the case, Gurbinder Singh, alias Ruby, was arrested. During interrogation of the suspect, he revealed the names of his accomplices, Gurjant Singh, alias Lucky, and Gurtej Singh, alias Suraj, after which, they were also arrested.
Verma said 16 mobile phones, one iron chopper (datar) and three motorcycles were recovered from them. Gurbinder already had three cases of robbery and snatching registered against him in police stations of Ludhiana in the past while criminal past of his accomplice Gurjant was being verified. The police are continuing investigation to uncover other incidents related to the gang.
The police said Gurtej had been running a mobile repair shop in Ladhowal and snatchers used to sell all snatched mobiles to him. The police would also verify if the suspect had also been buying mobiles from other snatchers of Ludhiana or not.
The police added that owners of recovered phones would be identified and the same would be handed over to them by following the due procedure of law.
