Ludhiana, July 12
The driver of a steel trader fled with his employer’s Toyota Innova vehicle and Rs 50 lakh in cash from New Delhi. The Police Division 6 registered a case against the suspect on Wednesday.
He was identified as Kuldeep Tyagi, a resident of North Delhi. After dropping his employer at some place in Delhi, the driver fled with the money and the MPV.
The complainant, Vimal Kumar Khosla, manager of the trading firm, said on July 9, owner of the firm Kuljinder Singh had gone to Delhi to make a payment to his business associate. The driver had dropped his employer at the office of his acquaintance and the former was told to wait for sometime by his employer. He was also told to take care of the cash lying in the car. To the surprise of the employer, when he returned, his driver was not there. His mobile phone also found switched off.
Investigating officer ASI Balbir Singh said after the incident, the police team had also conducted a raid at the house of the driver in New Delhi but he was not found there. His mobile was also switched off. A case under Section 306 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered against the suspect and raids were on to trace him.
