The Directorate of Extension Education, in collaboration with the School of Organic and Natural Farming, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a farmers’ training camp for PAU aromatic and spice growers club at the Skill Development Centre.

As many as 45 farmers participated in the programme, which was conducted under the guidance of Dr Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Additional Director of Extension Education and Communication.

Dr Rajendar Kumar, Principal Agronomist, coordinated the training programme and highlighted the importance of aromatics, herbal and spice crops in addition to elaborating the cultivation practices of turmeric.

Dr Gurveer Kaur, food processing expert, provided information on improved processing techniques of spices and also demonstrated various devices for processing.

Dr Vajnder Kalra, an agronomist, familiarised the participants with aromatics and spice crops at the Herbal Garden.

Dr Khushdeep Singh Dharni, Associate Director, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, shared valuable knowledge on the agri-business model for aromatics and spices, and the export procedures for such commodities. The training concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Kumar.
