The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organised a farmer training programme on ‘Improved Cultivation Practices for Rabi Crops’ at Pona village for the agriculture students under the ongoing Rural Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE) programme. Dr Kuldeep Singh, head, Department of Extension Education, emphasised the importance of practical learning experience and encouraged the farmers to adopt scientific practices for better profit.

Dr Satpal Sharma, an expert in potato cultivation, explained new potato varieties, their seed marketing and harvesting, and relevant government policies.

Dr Maninder Kaur, agronomist, provided valuable insights into wheat cultivation, new wheat varieties and sustainable paddy straw management. Extension Scientist Dr Dharminder Singh encouraged the farmers to explore additional income-generating activities like beekeeping and mushroom cultivation.
