Two govt schools targeted by thieves in Khanna, Samrala
Thieves targeted two government schools in Khanna and Samrala and decamped with valuables from their premises.
In the first incident, thieves targeted a government primary school at Goh village near Khanna city. Bhupinder Trivedi, a school employee, said on September 25, he had locked the school. On the morning of September 26 when he was going to open the school, he got a call from a teacher that miscreants had committed theft in the school. As he reached the school, he was shocked to see they had broken locks of several rooms.
“Some prominent village residents had also reached the school. Thieves decamped with two LPG cylinders, utensils, an inverter, grocery, LED and other things. Later, I came to know that miscreants had also committed theft at another government school from where they decamped with grocery and utensils,” he said.
The Sadar Khanna police yesterday registered a case against the unidentified suspects and launched an investigation to identify them.
Investigating officer Ranjit Singh said a probe was launched in the case.
The other theft incident occurred at Government Primary School, Sangatpura, Samrala. The complainant in the case, teacher Narinder Singh, told the police that on the intervening night of September 25-26, thieves barged into the school and decamped with LED, two LPG gas cylinders, curtains, etc. The incident came to light when school staff arrived at the school on Thursday morning.
