The Police Division 5 on Wednesday registered a case of fraud against two travel agents who duped a city resident of Rs 20.20 lakh on the pretext of sending her abroad.

The suspects were identified as Damini of Model Town and Rohit Tiwari, owner of KS Overseas, Delhi.

The complainant, Tajinder Kaur of Malakpur Bet, told the police that she wanted to settle in Canada. When she met the agents, they promised to send her to Canada on a visiting visa and also assured work permit. In lieu, the suspects took Rs 20.20 lakh from her. Despite taking the money, they failed to arrange the visa.

“Whenever I asked the suspects about the visa, they would make excuses. When I asked them to return the money, they refused. To get justice, she filed a police complaint and after probe, a case was registered on Wednesday,” she said.

SI Dharampal Singh said after registering a case, further investigation was launched in the case. The suspects were yet to be arrested.
