Union representatives met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, who attentively listened to the students’ demands and assured them that their concerns would be addressed at the earliest.

After learning about the ongoing protest, Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal visited the site. Highlighting the importance of the veterinary profession in Punjab, he said the students’ demands were genuine and urged the Vice-Chancellor and the state government to address them promptly.

The Union’s primary demand is to increase the interns’ stipend from Rs 15,000 to Rs 24,310, noting that stipends in neighboring states were significantly higher. The union also pointed out that while the stipend was funded by the university and ICAR, the Punjab Government contributed nothing.

Maintaining their peaceful approach, the union reiterated hope for a positive resolution but warned that the agitation could intensify if no action was taken soon.
