The Pashu Palan Mela of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, will be held on March 21 and 22. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education, revealed that the University confers Chief Minister Awards in different categories. This year during the Pashu Palan Mela, awards in four categories — buffalo farming, fish farming, pig farming and goat farming — will be given. These have been funded by the Chief Minister to boost the livestock sector in the state and will consist of a cash prize as well as a citation.

Brar further said that the application forms could be obtained from the Directorate of Extension Education, Vet Varsity, Ludhiana, and from all Krishi Vigyan Kendras in different districts or can be downloaded from the link: https://www.gadvasu.in/notices/10253.

The properly filled form along with a prescribed fee may be submitted to the Directorate of Extension Education Office on any working day on or before February 10. A team of experts of the university will visit the shortlisted farms for making an on-the-spot assessment.

The Chief Minister’s Awards will act as a source of inspiration for the unemployed youth for starting their own livestock enterprises and to increase productivity and profitability, which will help in the diversification of agriculture, Brar added.
