Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University organised a method demonstration and input distribution camp on the importance of trace mineral feeding in dairy animals at Hamidi village, Barnala district, under the Farmer First Project sponsored by ICAR.
Trace minerals include iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride and selenium.
Dr Parminder Singh, Principal Investigator of the project, said the participating farmers were informed about the importance and uses of trace minerals feeding. As many as 25 farmers attended this programme organised by Dr Amandeep Singh, Co-PI.
Dr Parminder Singh highlighted the role of trace minerals in enhancing animal productivity. While addressing the farmers, he said the minerals are helpful in achieving optimal production and reproduction along with maintaining healthy physiology in livestock. He also highlighted the role of trace minerals in prevention of diseases such as mastitis.
