Ludhiana, August 21
Dr Prabjeet Singh, Deputy Director (Training) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, delivered a lead paper at the 2nd Aquatic Science Conference titled ‘Securing Sustainable Aqua-Food Systems and Resources’. The conference was organised by the Aquatic Science and Innovative Management Division of the Faculty of Natural Resources at Prince of Songkla University in Hat Yai, Thailand.
Dr Singh had the honour of sharing the stage with eminent shrimp scientists, including Dr Toshiaki Itami from Miyazaki University, Japan; Dr Puthh Songsangjinda, Advisor at the Department of Fisheries, Thailand; Dr Masaharu Mizukami, Japan, and Dr Tohru Mekata, among other distinguished international experts.
In his keynote address titled ‘Best Management Practices in Shrimp Farming: A Way Forward towards Sustainability’, Dr Singh emphasised the critical role of Best Management Practices (BMPs) in ensuring sustainable shrimp farming. He also recommended the Thai scientists to collaborate with Indian counterparts to devise a strategic plan to combat diseases that have previously devastated Thailand’s shrimp production.
