Veterinary science college bags overall trophy

The weeklong inter-college youth festival of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, concluded on a note of gaiety as the College of Veterinary Science lifted the overall trophy. Harpal Singh Cheema, Finance Minister, was the chief guest on the occasion. He assured the university authorities of financial support to develop university infrastructure and asked the authorities to submit a blueprint of the same. He praised the dedication of the performers during the youth festival and underlined the fact that they were the future of the nation.

Dr Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, presided over the function. He said the youth festival played a significant role in the upliftment of the overall personality of the students and congratulated the officers of the university on successfully conducting the event.

The 13th inter-college youth festival started on November 25. It was held in two phases—from November 25 to 28 and from December 3 to 5. Competitions in several categories and events were held, which witnessed active participation from more than 200 students from five constituent colleges of the university—College of Fisheries, College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana, and Rampura Phul, College of Dairy and Food Science Technology, College of Animal Biotechnology; Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar, and Veterinary Pharmacy and RRTC, Kaljharani.

The students showcase their talent in different fields like fine arts, theatre, singing, dancing, and literary events. The best male and female actors were awarded gold medals and cash awards in the name of Dr Darshan Bari, a noted Punjabi actor and kabaddi commentator.

College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana, won the overall trophy in the event, while the runners-up trophy went to College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul.
