The BJP has alleged that the sarpanch and his aide, said to be close to a local AAP MLA, were promoting “gun culture” openly.

An FIR has already been registered against the aide at Hathur in Jagraon. Speaking to The Tribune, SHO Hathur Kuljinder Singh said, “The police have already registered a case against the relative of the Sarpanch.”

Asked about the viral photograph showing the sarpanch holding two pistols, the Inspector added, “The police will summon the Sarpanch and verify the picture. If anything is found against him, action as per law will be taken.”

Meanwhile, BJP leaders condemned the incident, stating that “such promotion of gun culture on social media must be dealt with strictly and those responsible should be booked as per law.”
