The Economic Offences Wing of the Vigilance Bureau on Thursday claimed to have caught junior assistant and executive officer of Ludhaina Improvement Trust (LIT) red-handed while accepting bribe.
One Satnam Singh had filed a complaint that LIT junior assistant Harmit Singh was demanding Rs 20,000 for processing and finalising his case of ‘one-time settlement’ of default payment for a booth allotted to him by the LIT at Rajguru Nagar.
Following the complaint, three teams of the Vigilance Bureau were formed. The teams planned a trap and Harmit was caught accepting Rs 10,000.
LIT executive officer Kamaljit Kaur was also arrested for being present there.
Vigilance Bureau SSP Surendra Lamba said an investigation is being carried out.
