Web news channel owner booked

The Ludhiana police registered a case against the owner of a online news channel, Ludhiana Plus, for allegedly distorting news regarding a road accident as explosions.

The channel reportedly presented the news of a truck colliding with a pole as the cause of some explosions in the city. By doing the same, the channel allegedly attempted to spread fake information. The suspect was identified as Aditya Mohindra, a resident of Malerkotla House Road, Civil Lines, here. The FIR stated that inspector Madhu Bala, along with a police team, was doing on routine patrolling at Gurdev Nagar, during which, he got information that the owner of Ludhiana Plus posted a video containing false news on his channel’s social media page about the accident.

The channel showed that the truck hit a pole, which led to 2-3 explosions near the DC office and explosions also caused 1 death.
