Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, organised a webinar to sensitise the farmers about common pig diseases.
Vice-Chancellor of the university JPS Gill revealed that after bringing about the green and white (milk) revolutions, Punjab was now on the verge of another livestock revolution in the pig industry. The university is committed to providing all technical guidance for this upcoming enterprise, said Dr Gill.
Director of Extension Education RS Grewal in his inaugural address stated that pig farming was becoming more and more popular across the board. Similar to other farming practices, this sector’s expansion is also impeded by some obstacles, such as infectious diseases and parasitic diseases, etc., but these obstacles can be surmounted with the right information, he added.
Randhir Singh discussed the common diseases of pig, their symptoms and preventive measures in detail. Further queries of farmers were dealt on the spot. Jaswinder Singh, head, Veterinary Extension Department, meticulously coordinated this webinar, which lasted around two hours. The recording of this webinar will be available soon on the university YouTube channel and Gadvasu Extension Services.
More than 50 pig farmers attended this webinar.
