Woman constable dies by suicide
A woman constable died by suicide by hanging herself at the NDRF headquarters in Ladhowal. The Ladhowal police launched a probe into the matter.
The victim tied her dupatta to the fan and hanged herself.
The deceased was identified as Simranjit Kaur (25). According to information, the incident came to light when the woman did not reach her duty on Wednesday and her senior officer went to her room to check on her. Even after knocking for a long time, the door did not open. After which police officials broke the door and entered the room and saw the constable hanging from the fan. Following which, they informed the Ladhowal police.
The police took the body in their custody and kept it in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. Her family members were informed by the police.
ASI Major Singh said the deceased was a resident of Mansa. She joined duty at the NDRF headquarters in Ludhiana on September 7, 2024.
The police said no suicide note was recovered, which would have revealed the reason behind the extreme step. Now, after the arrival of relatives of the victim, statements will be recorded and further action will be taken after conducting the autopsy.
