Complainant Dr Satwant Kaur (72), a resident of Dr Hari  Singh Road, Jagraon, told the police that his son Prabhjot Singh got married in 2013 to Dr Navsangeet Kaur. His daughter-in-law Dr Navsangeet Kaur and  son had gone abroad to Canada on July 2 along with their children who have obtained PR there.

The complainant said: “On May 2, 2024, my husband Dr Hari Singh was admitted to the hospital due to his poor health and was in a coma, after which my daughter-in-law Dr Navsangeet Kaur had returned to India along with the children. On July 24, 2024, my son’s in-laws Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Mangat and his son Dr Paramveer Singh Mangat came to our house and took my daughter-in-law and children with him. After a few days we came to know that my daughter-in-law had gone abroad to Canada along with the children and returned to India on July 27, 2025.

“Again on August 3, Dr Sukhwinder Singh Mangat and his son Dr Paramveer Singh Mangat and other relatives came to our house and abused us and thrashed my son Dr Prabhjot Singh and threatened to kill us. They also threatened to frame me and my son in false cases of dowry and harassment. After facing all this, we lodged a police complaint and a case was registered against the accused at the Jagraon city police station,”revealed complainant.
