Woman plays cop, dupes resident on pretext of job

The Sadar Jagraon police have registered a case against a woman who, by posing as a police officer, duped a resident of Rs 50,000 on the pretext of providing a job with the police. The victim lodged a police complaint as the accused failed to arrange a job after taking the money.

The accused was identified as Simran Kaur, a resident of Agwar Khwaja Baju near Jagraon. Complainant Jasvir Singh, resident of Sidhwan Kala, said Simran used to frequently visit his in-laws’ house at Chuharchak village and had once promised that she would easily secure a job for his son. When asked about the job, she told him to transfer Rs 50,000 to her account and that she would talk to senior officers and get his son recruited. Investigating officer ASI Lakhwinder Singh said that after a case had been registered and that the accused would be arrested soon.
