Yamuna emerges city topper in CBSE Class XII examinations
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results of Class XII on Tuesday. As soon as the results were declared, there was excitement among students, who wanted to check the same on the board’s website. This year in the region, a total of 1,23,679 students got registered, of which 64,876 were boys and 58,803 girls. As many as 1,23,080 students appeared for the exams of which 1,12,754 passed the same. This time, the pass percentage was 91.61 per cent.
Yamuna Goyal with 99.4 per cent marks from commerce stream is the highest scorer in the city.
Students from different schools in the city have done their institutes proud by scoring maximum marks in the medical, non-medical, commerce and humanities streams.
Medical
In medical stream, Rasleen Kaur from DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, has topped with 97.4 per cent marks. Her father Saranjit Singh is a businessman while mother Jaspreet Kaur is a teacher. Rasleen wants to become a surgeon and at present, she is waiting for NEET results. She used to study around 7-8 hours on normal days and during exams, the study time were prolonged up to 10 hours. She had kept tuitions for biology and chemistry.
Commerce
Yamuna Goyal from BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, has scored maximum 99.4 per cent marks in commerce stream. Her father Girish Aggarwal is a chartered accountant while mother Neha Goyal is into the home-decor business. Yamuna used to study around 4-5 hours on normal days and during exam, up to 12 hours. She wants to join civil services. A fun-loving girl, Yamuna takes part in extra curricular activities and has represented the state in a cryptic competition in Delhi.
Humanities
A student from Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sarabha Nagar, Gungeet Kaur Dua, has topped in humanities with 98.8 per cent in the city. Her mother Prabhjit Dua is a headmistress at Guru Nanak International Public School while father Harpreet Dua is a PU senator. Though Gungeet has still not made up her mind what she wants to do, she certainly wants to do something for the nation. On Normal days, she used to study for 3-4 hours while during exams, these were increased to 8-9 hours.
Non-medical
Harsimran Kaur from BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, has scored maximum 98.4 per cent marks in non-medical. Her father Kanwaldeep Singh Chawla is a businessman while mother Amarpreet Kaur Chawla is a chemistry lecturer. She wants to get admission to the IIT, Delhi, or Mumbai and wants to be a software engineer. She used to take tuition in physics and maths and studied up to 10 hours a day. Music and writing are her major hobbies.
Once again, proving their mettle girls have done extremely well in the Class XII examinations as all four top scorers in the four streams are girls from the city. All of them believe in consistency, dedication and focus. Their parents, teachers and principals have expressed gratitude over their brilliant performance.
