Year on, protest against bio gas plant continues at Bhundri village
Marking a year of the permanent sit-in against the bio-gas factory at Bhundri village, Sangharsh Committee Bhundri carried out a protest march in the village on Monday. Dr Sukhdev Singh Bhundri, coordinator of the committee, along with other representatives led the march. Terming the day as a “Black Day” women and men, who in large numbers took part in the protest, condemned the Bhagwant Mann-led government and the administration for their apathy.
Aman Parwaj Rasulpur performed a solo play based on drug abuse, which the audience watched with rapt attention for 45 minutes. Aman was widely appreciated for his performance.
Following this, students from Punjabi University screened a documentary depicting the story of cancer-causing gas factories being established under the guise of bio-gas plants and the pollution they spread in the rivers. The film showcased the struggling warriors of Bhundri, Musakabad, Akhara, and Bagge Kalan fighting against these issues. It also featured the testimonials of people suffering from various diseases due to pollution.
Dr Bhundri skilfully managed the stage proceedings, while the women participating in the sit-in from the village arranged langar for the masses.
