Youth fires in air, video goes viral

A video of a youth firing in the air went viral on social media. The youth, a resident of Sohian village, was reportedly standing on the roof of his house in the village and fired gunshots in the air.

The suspect was identified as Jaspreet Singh. The video was reportedly shot by a friend of the suspect, who was standing besides him.

SI Surjit Singh from Sadar police station said during a routine patrolling, the police got information about the video of a youth that went viral. As he, along with a police team, was present on a link road going towards Sohian village, he investigated the matter and and after identifying the suspect, nabbed him.

He said a case was registered against the suspect and the police seized the weapon with which he had fired the shots from him. The police are now probing about the arms licence of the youth. The police will present the accused in a court and will conduct further interrogation.

Earlier also, such videos have gone viral in which youth were found resorting to celebratory firing.
