The Ministry of Health on Friday informed the Lok Sabha that 1,456 medical postgraduate seats remained vacant even after the Centre exhausted all rounds of counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG 2021.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has been entrusted by the Supreme Court to conduct counselling for 50 per cent all-India quota, 100 per cent deemed, 100 per cent Central universities and 100 per cent PG DNB seats of postgraduate courses (MD/MS/diploma/and PG DNB).

“According to the order of the Supreme Court, the DGHS was directed to conduct four rounds of online counselling in 2021. The MCC conducted five rounds of counselling for PG seats for the academic year 2021, including a special round of counselling but 1,456 seats remained vacant. The vacant seats in respect of deemed universities were reverted to respective universities,” Minister of State for Health Bharati Pawar said.
