13-year-old girl, elderly man die due to COVID-19 in Rajasthan; toll rises to 11

A 13-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh and an elderly man of Tonk died due to COVID-19 in Rajasthan on Saturday. The death toll is 11 in the state as of Sunday.

The adolescent girl hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Farooqabad died of COVID-19 at JK Lone Hospital here on Saturday and was detected positive in her report on Sunday.

The girl was referred from Agra Medical Hospital and College on April 9, and brought in a serious condition of intestine perforation and septicaemia to Jaipur’s JK Lone Hospital by an ambulance.

Blood transfusion was done as she had symptoms of some infection on her entire body.  She was kept in isolation and her blood sample was sent for diagnosis on April 10 and the report came this morning with positive COVID-19, Dr Ashok Gupta, its Superintendent, told The Tribune.

The body of the deceased was packed and sealed as per the norms and sent to the mortuary, Gupta said.

Whereas an elderly man suffering from acute diabetes with COVID-19 died at his home in Tonk after he left Mahtma Gandhi hospital on Saturday evening.

Earlier he was admitted to SMS hospital for a surgery, Medical and Health Secretary (ACS) Rohit Kumar Singh said in a bulletin here.

Whereas the tally of coronavirus afflicted patients has spiked to 804 with 104 new cases on Sunday.

Of these 11 casualties, four deaths were from Jaipur, two from Bhilwara, one each from Kota, Alwar, Jodhpur, Tonk, and Bikaner.
