14 cases found of pilots attending duty in inebriated state
New Delhi, July 28
A total of 14 cases of airline pilots testing positive for alcohol consumption have been found during last six months (January 2022- June 2022).
These pilots tested positive in pre-flight breath-analyser examination.
The licenses of the pilots have been suspended.
This was stated by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Parliament on Thursday in his reply to a question asked by S Muniswamy.
According to the provisions of Rule 24 of Aircraft Rules 1937 and CAR Section-5, Series-F, Part-III, the crew members are not permitted to consume alcohol on domestic as well as on international flights.
No proposal to allow consumption of alcohol in domestic late evening flights is under consideration of the ministry, Scindia informed in response to a related question asked by the BJP Lok Sabha member.
