New Delhi, December 20

Congress leader and former minister Manish Tewari on Monday raised red flags on a mounting number of Lok Sabha questions regarding the LAC standoff with China being disallowed citing national security.

Tweeting a snapshot of 17 such questions posed to the Ministries of Defence, Home Affairs and External Affairs on the subject—all disallowed—Tewari said, “Here is a snapshot of 17 questions on Sino-Indian Border Situation disallowed by Lok Sabha Secretariat on specious grounds of National Security. There are many more. Not one substantive discussion on China since April 2020. Are we a Democracy any longer?”

Tewari tagged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu in his tweet.

The snapshot features questions on the ongoing border standoff between India and China.

The question titles vary and range from “Indian territory occupied by China; Indo-China clash; Intrusion along Indo-China Border; Disengagement with China at LAC and Indian soldiers martyred at LAC to Cost of deployment at LAC”.
